Who doesn’t like saving money on stuff that you need to survive? The average American will spend $3,899 per year on groceries. By just using one of these credit cards you can earn an automatic 3% back when shopping for groceries. That’s an average of $115 per year! These are the best ongoing rewards credit cards for grocery stores.
I decided to only account for the ongoing rewards and not the sign up bonuses because groceries are something that everyone needs. And I think that it is important to have a card that you use all the time. Sign up bonuses will get you more money over time and in general, but obviously you have to work to sign up and meet the required spend for the bonus.
3% Cash back at grocery stores, 2% at gas stations and some department stores, 1% on other. No annual fee.
This card is great for grocery shopping offering 3% cash back. It’s an American express so there are some limitations in terms of merchants accepting it, but it will work in most grocery stores. There are also special cash back deals that get offered occasionally, which can help save some extra money.
3% points on groceries, restaurants, and gas stations, up to 15,000 points per quarter. $49 annual fee.
This mastercard offers 3% on 3 major categories, it’s definitely on my radar as that is where I spend most of my money. Points can be redeemed for cash, travel and gift cards and are worth $0.01 per point.
3% on gas, 2% on groceries, 1% on other. No annual fee.
This mastercard generally doesn’t have the best cash back on groceries, but there is a Bank of America program that will increase the rewards returns based on the amount of money you have banked at a Bank of America. It can increase the grocery rewards up to 3.5%! Information about this program can be found here.
Hopefully some of these credit cards offer better rewards than the ones you are using now. Think of all the extra sweets that you can get with them!
